It has come to my attention that it may be prudent to make the switch from my 1985 Minolta X-700 SLR film camera to a semi-pro digital format. I've been holding on for some time now, because I love my camera. But film and developing costs, the time it takes to get developing done, and the lack of control I have over said developing are getting harder to deal with. I can't "compete" with people whose shots are instantly available, so some of it's probably jealousy. Yesterday I did a photo shoot of a dog I'm to do a portrait for, and was forced to use my SLR because the little digital one doesn't shoot fast enough--but this means that I have to

For a long time, I've been frustrated with the discrepancy between what I see in the viewfinder and the aspect ratio of conventional photographs. I always compose in camera, and with film you end up losing a good part of the image to get a 4x6 or 5x7 or 8x10 print. "The first 10 people who post in this journal will be featured. I will go through your gallery and choose three of your deviations I like most and post them in my journal for everyone to see. It's pretty much to show you off. Who doesn't want that? The catch? You gotta put this in your journal as well if you posted. ~alidaART (https://www.deviantart.com/alidaart) ~ alidaART (https://www.deviantart.com/alidaart) 1. Roses and Laurel. This is what first drew me to Alida--hardly anyone mentions Fire and Hemlock! It's one of my favorite books, and this is gorgeous art. 2. Cross My Heart. I don't know Immortal Rain, but I love the colors and the stylized hair. 3. Cousins?. Another Diana Wynne Jones piece, fr

Very nice photos.

I read your May 10, 2008 journal entry above and was curious if you have made the switch to digital yet?

I have been shooting digital for quite a few years now, but i still have my old Minolta XD11. In fact I was just thinking the other night that I needed to buy some film. It's been awhile.
How did I not know about this? I feel bad. But now I can enjoy your photography too.
I went through your gallery and I appreciate your work.

Well done.
